Orchard Root

Governed infrastructure automation for the AI era.

Orchard Root is a multi-repository platform for defining, validating, packaging, and executing operational work with controls in place before AI or automation touches production systems.

Structure first, automation second.

Orchard Root treats infrastructure work as governed product data instead of loose scripts and one-off commands. Base provides the governed foundation, registry defines what work is, tools build and verify the work product, execute runs approved tasks, and the future agent brings controlled execution to local hosts.

The platform is designed for organizations that need a safer path into AI-assisted operations: clear entity models, reusable rules, auditable execution, and provider-specific extensions that do not compromise the core.

Purpose-driven tiers

Core source of truth

base

Provides the governed foundation, package structure, baseline contracts, and shared work product that the rest of Orchard expands from.

Governance and control plane

registry

Defines the schema, entity hierarchy, policy shape, and approval rules that turn operational work into governed work product.

Execution plane

execute

Holds PowerShell, Bash, command, and executable content that performs approved work against systems and services.

Build and maintenance plane

tools

Creates, validates, modifies, packages, and deploys platform artifacts so teams can maintain the platform consistently.

Host and user interaction plane

agent

Planned cross-platform component for consuming governed work products on hosts and accepting user tasks through controlled interfaces.

Controls expand from a governed base.

Entities expand from base definitions into categories and subcategories. That hierarchy makes work discoverable, enforceable, and reusable across different organizations and technology stacks.

This website is maintained in the Orchard GitHub repository and prepared for Cloudflare Workers deployment. The current site is intentionally static: product details, roadmap, and platform positioning live in source control while deployment metadata is managed through Sites.

Roadmap for governed AI operations

01

Foundation

Stabilize schemas, entity contracts, package layout, and repeatable build tooling across the core repositories.

02

Governed execution

Connect registry definitions to signed requests, validated script execution, and auditable output for infrastructure workflows.

03

Cloud integrations

Add purpose-built integration repositories for AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365, and other provider-specific capabilities.

04

AI-assisted operations

Expose safe task boundaries, policy checks, and human review paths so AI can assist without bypassing governance.

05

Local agent

Deliver an installable host component for controlled task consumption, local execution, and user-facing interaction.
